Demolition

Demolition Contractors Wakefield

Here at CG Building Services, we understand that sometimes, something just needs knocking down and getting rid of.  Perhaps it’s that old asbestos ridden garage on your property that’s been an eyesore for too long and has outstayed it’s welcome, or maybe it’s the green-roofed conservatory that’s had its day in the sun. Either way, you want rid of it!

Usual types of demolition work we carry out include:
  • Old garages

  • Conservatories to convert to extensions

  • Driveways and patios

  • Barns and other outbuildings

Generally speaking, these are the things you can demolish without involving Building Control:
  • Buildings under 1750 feet cubed.
  • Greenhouses
  • Garages
  • Sheds
  • Conservatories

Anything you request demolishing that doesn’t fall into these categories will most likely require the involvement of third parties. Normally, building control must be informed at least six weeks in advance of your intention to demolish. Also, utilities providers, and neighbouring property owners must also be informed in advance if this is the case.

For these more specific demolition jobs, each one will have to be dealt with on a case by case basis as they often require a more bespoke touch.

How our skilled team will assist with your demolition requirements from start to finish safely

Step 1 - Free Quote & Survey

It is a simple matter for us to come and demolish things for you. Firstly, we will come visit your property and make an assessment of what needs doing, then we will provide you with a quote for costings.

Although demolition/deconstruction is not necessarily classed as development, sometimes Building Control must be included in the process.

Sometimes it is a simple matter of one man with a large hammer, a wheelbarrow and a hired skip. There are times however that heavier machinery is required. For these demolition jobs that require plant hire, the hire of the machine must be taken into account when giving you are quote. There are two types of demolition; you’re either wanting something taking down partially or completely. Partial demolition is more of a delicate job, and often requires additional tools like acro props and shoring tools. This is often because you’re holding up integral bits of a property whilst removing the undesired parts.

Frequently asked questions

This varies entirely on the size and scope of what needs demolishing, whether heavy machinery needs hiring and so on.

We remove all rubble from sight safely and neatly, either by hand into skips, or using a grab hire company.

What happens to general waste from skips really depends on the company that you hire your waste skip from. Most skip companies have drivers who take skip waste to a waste transfer station for temporary deposition before they are taken for incineration, to a landfill, a hazardous waste facility or indeed for recycling.
