Family run Builders - Quality not quantity built homes
New Build Homes Wakefield
CG Building Services can be contracted to build a new property from the ground up if you, the client, have the land and space. From the absolute beginning to the very end, we can help you achieve your vision of a brand-new house and home.
The process of building a house from scratch is very similar to building an extension. In fact, it’s virtually the same, except its free standing and not extending from any existing build.
Types of homes we build
1 bedroom apartments
2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes
How our skilled team will build your new home from start to finish
As with extensions, we talk with the client, providing quotes and then liaising with Building Control and Planning.
Then the ground worker will come in and excavate the footings to the predetermined dimensions to a depth of 900mm, however this sometimes is not always the case. In some cases, the excavated trenches need to be dug out even further. This trench then has concrete poured in to it, and if necessary, a layer of footing blocks is laid to get to the right height.
Once out of the footings, we build up in the masonry construction products of your choice. Most commonly this is a brick (outer layer) and block (inner layer) combination, however there are a multitude of building materials available for use in your new build. As the client, your choice is paramount, as we can discuss with you any and all building materials you are considering using. On our way up building, we leave openings for windows and doorways wherever they are on the drawings, ready to be installed by the window fitter at a later date. The doorways will have doors installed in them by our joiner at the appropriate time. Once the build reaches head height, we then employ the services of a scaffolder to set up staging around the build, which will allow us to continue building the second story and eventually grant access to roof height. On the inside of the building around this stage is when steel RSJ’s are installed and joists are put in. These joists function as the ceiling of the first floor, and on the second floor, they are the floor itself.
Once the ‘shell’ of the build is complete, the roof goes on. This can be built traditionally, or using pre-constructed roof trusses. At this stage, space(s) for velux windows are left out so they can be installed by the window fitter, before the roofer comes and begins his work.
As soon as the roof is on and the build is water tight, it is then a matter of resolving the plastering, window fitting, plumbing, electrics and so forth. Over the timeframe of the build, these other trades may be called in when needed, however it is mainly when the roof is on that they begin the bulk of their work. At this stage of the build, the property will be buzzing with different tradesmen working around one another to finish the job.

Frequently asked questions
This naturally varies depending on the scope of work. It must be assessed on a case by case basis.
Our diary tends to be full in advance when it comes to big jobs, meaning a significant wait but nothing out of the ordinary. With smaller scale jobs, they can be fit in where possible.
Normally, towards the finish line of the job is when we must go inside the property to finalise work. We are as unobtrusive as possible and keep things tidy too.
This depends entirely on the job at hand, but with a new build home there is a specific order of works. This can be found on our website above in the relevant sections.
Of course. You as the client are paying for the skip after all.
Personally, no. We do however have a team of decorators we work with a phone call away.
We do, and can put you in touch with them no problem. Same with designers, and structural engineers.
It depends on the size, scope and location of the work. We would have to discuss it together going forward.
