Double extension
Good afternoon blog readers all around the UK, but most probably Wakefield, Leeds and the five towns. You reach us today languishing on our dinner break, sat on top of makeshift insulation roll chairs. They’re still in their plastic of course, other wise it would be a very itchy seat indeed.
We’re currently working on a nice double extension in Wrenthorpe. Not a double story extension you understand, but two separate extensions on the rear and side on the property.
It’s been a fantastic one to work on, with great clients and amiable neighbours, and literally around the corner from our headquarters.
The stage we find ourselves at now is the final stretch of our building work. We’ve had the steel RSJs installed and knocked through into the existing house, and have been setting about filling in the void to pack the top of the steel to the underside of the existing brickwork- this creates one solid unit that serves to preserve the upper story brickwork and hold up the whole garden facing facade.
Now that this is all held up nicely, we are to going to move into the footpath space at the side of the property and finish some drainage and tarmac repairing.
The property has had some drains introduced in order to take the rain water that’s bound to begin falling as the winter months began to roll in. Those heady summer days this year are going to be all but a memory before long, when I’m peeling off my soaked gloves and typing these blogs with gnarled frost bitten fingers. Hot sandwiches will be the order of the day, and bovril will flow like the beefy brown lifeblood of the working man.
All hail the insulating power of chicken soup, and let’s desperately hope we can get by without putting the heating on for just one more day.
