Building at castlefields
We’re back, blog fans! After having a fantastic bit of time of for Christmas and New Year, the boys are back in town to finish off the extension we were building at Castlefields, Rothwell. It’s been a bit of a shock to the system coming back, but the rust soon gets shaken off and we’re back on the horse quicker than you can say COMPO!
Today has been a chilly start, but it’s begun to warm up around the time of writing. In the AM, we were mainly putting the finishing touches on the traditional roof, which may I add, had four Velux windows. This is unusual for the length of the build, but more the merrier says I. All the better to let the healthy daylight in to illuminate your fantastic new extension.
Soon, we are going to put the finishing touches on the cut-ups, and hopefully lay the last few brick courses on the front. Once these final touches are put on, it’s the roofers turn to come do his bit latting and felting the roof in preparation for the tiles. Once the space is covered and sheltered from the elements, we can board up the opening and begin our indoor work.
First, we will lay some boards down on our floor joists and begin to pin up the second story of the existing house, in anticipation of installing the interior steelwork. Once this process has been accomplished we must then actually get the piece of steel into position.
Once all this work has been done, we can set about demolishing the original exterior brickwork and get rid of the rubble. This process creates us the opening for the great new extension space the client is after, and it’s at this stage that our clients truly begin to see the potential of their new extension for the first time.
