The Mexican builder
Hello there dear reader. I am currently writing to you from the office with nary a thought in my head as to where I’m actually going.
I have been off work for three weeks; no extensions, alterations or demolitions have been wrought by my hands. In fact, I’ve done no building work in general.
The heaviest thing I’ve lifted for almost twenty-five days has been a pint of Cerveza! Yes, dear reader I’ve been in Mexico, on the coastal resort of Playa Del Carmen. This incredible place is nestled on the coastline in the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo, one of the 31 states of Mexico. It is located on the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, and it took us ten and a half hours to get there from sunny Manchester airport.
While I was away, CGB had to get someone else in the cover my duties. Jordan, the young ambitious go-getter was called into action and despite a few hiccups with some of the more technical aspects of the job, he soon took to it like Un Pato Al Agua.
Apparently, the job at hand has been a single-story extension to the rear of a property on Horbury Road, and by all accounts it’s gone fantastically well. At the point of writing, I’ve just got back to site and the build is eighty percent complete, I’d say. The outer shell is fully up, the timber framed roof is on, the floor joists are ready to go. All that remains is the cut-ups and most importantly the demolition of the interior walls and buttresses that will open the client’s property up to the new extension. Sounds great doesn’t it!
